Some days have the power to change everything

Many of us tend to think that milestones like New Year’s are arbitrary. That they’re just days on a calendar and don’t have the power to change much, if anything. What was true yesterday on December 31st is still true today on January 1st, right?

That outlook misses a fundamental truth about humanity: that perception is reality. We are what we think.

By turning days like today into causes of universal celebration, they give everyone the space and license to reset - to get unstuck from stubborn habits and past setbacks. If we believe that January 1st gives us permission to leave behind the past and set new goals, then so it is.

New Year’s, holidays, anniversaries, and milestones of all kinds are opportunities to pause, take inventory, and make needed changes. Besides, if we don’t have license to change on a day like today then when do we?

New Year’s Day may just be another day on the calendar, but some days have the power to change everything.
